tl;dr: Not updated in two years, likely abandoned and you should avoid it. Will cause unexpected issues sooner or later.

Used to be good and greatly improved the YouTube experience but hasn't been updated in two years as of writing and functionality is breaking more and more as YouTube changes. Unless you only want a specific thing function and can confirm it does that, don't expect it to work smoothly. Expect changes from YouTube to have unexpected consequences at any time.

This extension partially stopped working in November 2025. After researching alternatives, I believe that the following one is the most up to date and fully featured: "RYS — Remove YouTube Suggestions"

Doesn't work in mobile. It breaks touch when reply button is accidently touched.

This hasn't been updated for a year now, and in the world of YouTube where Google is constantly making change to API breaking things, one year might as well be a lifetime.

I had to disable this add-on because it was causing issues with UI, messing up the video player.

Uses MellowTel-js to scrape all pages you visit and feed to AI

Hasn't been updated in over a year. I loved this program for a long time now, but I had to uninstall it as it won't be updated to support new features or remove bugs.

Developer does not respond to support claims. Extension is breaking slowly by slowly, extension is not being updated and more and more features are starting to break.

Unhook is incredibly effective at removing YouTube distractions, significantly improving focus. The core functionality is brilliant and much appreciated.

However, I'm giving it 1 star due to a critical issue: it is closed-source. This lack of transparency is a major concern. We, the users, cannot verify the code we are running in our browsers. This presents potential security and privacy risks, as there's no way to audit the extension for hidden tracking or malicious behaviour. Trust requires transparency.

I genuinely love what this extension does, and I would instantly change my rating to 5 stars if the developers embraced free and open-source principles.

I strongly urge other users to request this change as well. Open source is vital for user security and trust in browser extensions. Developers, please consider making Unhook open-source. The concept is fantastic, but its closed nature prevents a wholehearted recommendation.
