What does this extension actually do that you can't do for youself already?

My homepage was set to bing.com
My default search was bing.com
And I have a bookmark to Outlook.com

I wanted to see this "direct access" to Outlook, but there's nothing documenting this nor can I find any setting or link or button or anything that "directly links me to Outlook."

The extension works, but I don't know what it's purpose is.
