The desired resolution no longer works, I set it to 1440p and instead the videos start at 720p

It seems a glitch deleted my review so I'm reposting to keep users up to date.

Used to be a great extension, almost mandatory. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem that's causing some users to be unable to update to the newer version of the extension (trapping them on version 2.0.121) and this older version is starting to not work anymore. It's probably a good idea to not install until the problem has been fixed.

I'm in currently talking with the dev team via email to find a solution (future update, about:config edit, "unpacked extension") but communication seems to be tricky. I'll update this review when i have confirmation on a fix.

The update landing page claimed something along the lines of “tons of bug fixes and improvements - too many to list.”

In reality, I don’t see any improvements at all. In fact, it broke features that were working perfectly fine in the previous version.

For starters, embed quality stopped working for me after the update. I’m not sure what else is broken yet, but I’ll update this review as I encounter more issues.

What makes this especially disappointing is that I previously found the extension very impressive. The old version worked flawlessly for me, even after YouTube’s UI changes. Every feature I used continued to work without issues right up until this update.

Given this experience, I’m honestly starting to wonder whether the original author is still maintaining the project, especially considering there’s no proper changelog and the overall experience has clearly regressed.

Anyway, just a heads-up to others. Someone should confirm whether this update actually comes from the original author and possibly decompile the code to check for anything sketchy. I’ll most likely downgrade to the older version and disable auto-updates.

Does not allow me to dismiss update popup without reloading

Broken for several months. Pages load unbelievably slowly, and it is entirely this extension's fault. Multiple times per day I have to completely reload a page to see anything other than the video window; comments, like/dislike, recommended videos, etc; none of it will load, the page is just a flat color. Disabling this extension fixes the problem immediately. *Please* update this, youtube just isn't the same without it.

expand and shrik does not work

This was a much-valued addition, but it seems to have stopped working.
It shows as being switched on, but the controls don't show, none of the settings I had are operative, and the option to configure it seems to have also vanished.

It used to be useful, but then it "required" Firefox 121+ for some reason (though manually copying the files to ESR115 works).

Bugs:

• There's a bug in the resolution settings that hides anything above 720p.

• The speed override has a bug where it only works for the first video in a playlist and subsequent videos revert to 1× speed. If I can't force an entire playlist at 2.5×, then this doesn't help. 😕

Broken. This extension triggers yourtube's adblock detection. I can't watch videos with this turned on now.

Please provide update to Firefox extension also, the extension is only getting update in Chrome. Thanks.

It was a good add-on, however recently it started to break YT shorts (no comments section, Likes etc.

Works great on normal videos but entirely breaks yt shorts, cant see any of the like-dislike and comments icon. Please release a patch 🙏

Randomly breaks. It's fixed in 3.0 but for some reason it's not on firefox.
The extension is good, but sadly not on the 3.0 version, which adds some QOL settings.

The auto play doesn't exactly stop it from playing, it keeps it from playing for about 30 seconds and then launches into the ad or the program. even behind other you tubes already playing.

Please update the extension. The chrome version is newer and works with ambient. Firefox does not.

Unfortunately this addon fails reliably on a daily basis for me. It's noticeable in that Shorts often still show up, but it also sometimes does not load properly (I once even had massive icons in the background below the video) or at all (no icons, no custom colors, etc), or it causes massive CPU hog on open YT tabs which also makes any YT function act on a several second delay (even just pausing / unpausing or going fullscreen). Sometimes it helps to completely re-open a new YT tab and close the old one but that's all just temporary until things go south again shortly after.

It is not working anymore! I cant see the toolbar for a few days now!
