by Ariel, a year agoWhile this extension has its merits, it has a critical flaw that significantly impacts its usability for me. Since last year, the connection has become unstable in China, and there are times when I simply cannot connect, no matter how many attempts I make.
Additionally, the login process requires accessing the proton.me domain, which is not feasible in China. I have to use other tools to bypass the Great Firewall just to log in to ProtonVPN, which is quite absurd. The whole point of using ProtonVPN is to access the internet freely, yet I find myself needing to circumvent restrictions just to use the service.

Our team is working hard on improving our infrastructure so that all our users are able to connect more easily. We will continue to make more improvements to enhance service availability despite the ongoing blocking attempts.

However, they need to include this in the description: unless you have the paid plan, you cannot choose what country you want (even from the 10 free countries offered in the plan). The only option on the free plan is Quick Connect, which auto-connects you.

- Rated 1 out of 5by AJ, 6 days agoUp until recently, Proton VPN has been a GREAT option for me. It was the only free VPN I trusted and used and it worked great. However as of yesterday it stopped working. I've tried to uninstall it but it actually won't let me, and if I try to click on the icon/widget it is just a neverending spinning circle. Also, I keep getting a popup that says "Your networks seems to be blocking Proton. The extension can't bypass this. Try the desktop app instead"
This is very frustrating to especially since the mobile version keeps workings fine for now. I originally thought it might be a problem on my end, but apparently this has been an issue for many other people. Dropping my review so hopefully others know they aren't alone - Rated 1 out of 5by magivmike, 8 days agoit never loads anything and just displays a window with a spinning circle on it, and the circle keeps spinning till I crash out and delete the extension
