by TreeHugger415, 6 years agoThank you, Mr/Ms Developer for expertly keeping up with security updates and video format changes. No other extension or app can do as much is this one to the best of my knowledge. Vimeo and YouTube keep on changing their formats and VideoDownloadHelper works his magic to make the program work without much effort on user's part.
Program runs well on a 14 year old Laptop running W7 with 2GB Ram and a Pentium Duo processor. Also runs well on a Mac using High Sierra and i7 and 32GB Ram.
I've tried all the extensions to DL video and always come back to this one for it's simplicity and success rate without intervention on my part.

It gets 4 stars now (not 5) for two reasons:
1)The developer has disabled the contact page on his site, and there's no way to reach him. This is a problem ...
2)It's a very weird design decision to make me select download directory and file name (from Download As) *after* the download is complete. It causes the Save As system dialog to interrupt what I'm doing, routinely stealing keystrokes meant for another program and erasing the correct filename, wasting my time.
