    The bad thing about protonvpn free is that it assigns you a server based on your IP. Proton may be collaborating with authorities. Something we don't know internally, and they can already know your IP. So when you connect you are assigned to a free server but what you don't know who is connected to that server can be you alone or with other people. Another thing is that it uses VPS, dedicated servers are in England, we all know that England is an ally of the United States so draw your conclusions. What I don't understand is why one cannot choose which server to use and not that the system itself assigned me based on its preferences.

    The default Connect option will connect you to the fastest available server for you. This leads to better load balancing and higher speed, which is a priority for free users. That said, you still have the option to change server, or you can upgrade to connect to a specific server in a country of your choice.

    All of the Proton VPN servers use static IP addresses, which means that the same IP address is shared between all users connected to the server, and the IP address is the same all the time for that particular server, unless the server itself is changed. However, this does not apply to the free and Secure Core servers, which are selected from a pool of servers in order to balance out the load. As for dedicated IPs, we support multiple other countries: https://proton.me/support/dedicated-server-locations.

    Lastly, we're not collaborating with any authorities whatsoever.     So like sometimes I need to turn the extension on and off a lot sometimes cuz if I don't it just won't connect to internet. (The web browser not the computer) I've tried this on waterfox and librefox I believe and multiple devices and OSes

    The add-on is quite useful, but the integration (as already stated in another comments) with the desktop (Windows and Linux) app is lacking. The default auto-connect server selection would also come in handy, as it's done in desktop app.

    A simple to use VPN, especially for subscribers, but unreliable; the extension consistently disconnects intermittently, requiring disabling and re-enabling the extension several times to re-establish a connection.

    That doesn’t sound right. Could you share more details about the issue? Are you receiving any error messages? What type of internet connection are you using?     Pretty great for all my uses and never had a problem connecting. Dropping one star because it's missing the favourite feature from the PC app, forcing me to scroll through the entire list of countries to find what I want instead of pinning my favourite to the top.

    I'm using this app already a few years (payed version) but the last few month the performance is terrible and a lot of sites are unreachable. If this is not improving soon, I'll unsubscribe me from proton. Also, in the beginning there was a greater choice of servers per country. But now the servers are mostly busy, busy, busy. No good service.
    For a free service nice but for a payed service very poor!

    After contact with the Proton helpdesk the problems got resolved. Super! Good servide.

    Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, some websites block known VPN IP addresses. Contact us at https://protonvpn.com/support/contact with more details about the websites in question and the servers you're connected to when trying to access them so we can note your feedback for future improvement. Meanwhile, try switching between multiple different servers to see how it goes.

    On another note, we constantly monitor server loads and our team makes sure to provision additional servers in areas where there's constant high demand.

    It would be nice if there was a way to pin certain countries/location to the top of the list, or if the extension remembered the last few countries you used.

    Its a great vpn and works great, no ads, nothing bad about it.

    But currently i find a problem where if you close the browser with the vpn on after you reopen the browser it will try to connect to vpn immediately but will instead basically remove internet connection to the entire browser, making the extension itself inaccessible as well, only solution is to disable the extension and re-enable

    Would be great if it had a "default connection" option and a "Recents" list like on the iOS app. Selecting the preferred country each and every time is a bit of a pain point when it's half-way down the list of countries.

    Also, can you make split tunneling work the opposite way? i.e. I only want some websites to go through the VPN.

    EDIT: The split tunneling now has include mode and exclude mode! Woop woop!

    Works as you'd expect, and the UI is very responsive, albeit bare-bones feature wise. An option to pin or favorite specific countries to have them show up at the top of the list, or profiles, would be nice (but that's what the standalone app is for I suppose).
