Wtf, why is this so unnecessarily complex when it comes to reddit comment images ? In fact, I would prefer if when I right click the image and click 'save Webp as PNG', it instantly does exactly just that, instead of this multi-options crap that won't even appear correctly like in this case. Also, the UI for it is very ugly and unprofessional.
Also, don't tell me to right click open in new tab the image. Reddit has this stupid issue when it comes to images inside comments where doing that will lead to a broken link (imgur.com/a/Wa7FDhH). F*ck reddit for automatically converting PNGs into WEBPs.
It's a shame that the entire of Firefox only has this as WEBP-to-PNG extension. I'm specifically having to dual use another Chromium browser just because Chrome extension store has another WEBP-to-PNG extension that does EXACTLY just what simple request I wanted. (imgur.com/a/eISp0yQ)

Data: 2 lata temuFirst, I didn't realize the button bar was scrunched in a way that makes it unusable on those images. I'll have to investigate.
Second, by default, if you Shift+click the menu item, it bypasses the button bar and saves as PNG. You can change which action occurs on a plain click versus Shift+click in the options. (Another reviewer shared an example of where to change this: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/save-webp-as-png-or-jpeg/reviews/2120797/ )
I have a couple pending requests to have sub-menus as an alternative to a button bar, since not everyone finds that design attractive, but I haven't found time to work on that.

Data: 5 dni temuSorry to hear that. Perhaps there is something about the way the downloads are saved that causes the problem on certain distros or desktop environments?
As a partial workaround, you can use Firefox's built-in screenshot tool to save images as PNGs: call up the feature (Ctrl+Shift+s or right-click > Take screenshot), click the image to select it, then click Download. - Ocena: 5/5Autor: komrad.evgeny, 15 dni temu

When you have an image loaded in its own tab, and you attempt to save the image quickly using CTRL-S, the extension is completely bypassed, and uses the default browser save dialog, folder choice, and filename. An option is needed to save images through the extension should you use CTRL-S, so that it can take advantage of the extension's ability to convert to JPG, as well as modify the filename before saving. Currently as it is, you still have to Right-click on the image and go down to "Save webP as..." which makes it a lengthy process for multiple images. The extension should take over CTRL-S if the image is displayed by itself.

Data: rok temuThis extension is published under the Mozilla Public License, an open source license, and the code repository is at https://github.com/jscher2000/Save-webP-as-extension/. You also can review the code by right-clicking the "Add to Firefox" button and using Save Link As. The .xpi file is a ZIP archive, so you can extract it and read the files locally.
The reason such broad permissions are required is that many images are hosted on a different server, and Firefox doesn't provide a convenient way to prompt for permission to operate on embedded cross-site content. Maybe I can make a lower-permission version that only works with stand-alone images?
If you prefer an extension-free approach, you can emulate the way this extension works using Firefox's built-in screenshot feature. That usually downloads in PNG format, but occasionally it may use JPEG format.Odpowiedź autora

Generally speaking, it creates an HTML canvas the same size as the image and puts the image on the canvas, then extracts a blob object that it can save in your choice of formats. Similar to screenshotting.
