Don't know if it improved youtube search, but it DID love to randomly open up a new tab for their settings without my input or consent far too often for me to have any feelings but contempt for this extension.

Currently does not block shorts in the homepage. I've double checked that all the settings are on, refreshing youtube, all that stuff, but still doesn't do that. It does, however, have other settings work (grid search and shorts in search results) so it may just be from a recent update to youtube/the extension that broke it.

Would love for it to work for shorts in the homepage, but at the moment, it doesn't do that properly.

EDIT: shorts now no longer show up on the homepage, and shorts now appear re-formatted as regular videos. shorts tab still appears though, but most issues have been fixed by now

People complaining that it doesn't work: You need to go into settings and change them. All the setting seem to be off by default. You must make the change yourself and choose what to block!

Anyhow this is is exactly what i needed. Thanks!

Edit: as of 5/16/26 it seems the music mix recommendations are not being blocked anymore. still a great tool hope to get an update soon!

I like the idea of this extension a lot and wish I could use it, I am autistic and find the way the dumb big idiocracy style phone style format is forced on me really annoying, I want the grid where I can look at all the results quick and try find what I actually want to look at instead of scrolling through junk... BUT... I have installed it, enabled the options to hide mix and shorts, and I am still getting big blocks of "Mix" showing up at top of search results as well and the huge rows of awful Shorts slop - the options don't seem to be working though I am getting a grid results of sorts it's ruined by the thing of Google where they keep trying to force you into shorts by spamming rows of shorts every 4 or so actual search results, then doing sponsored video slop too, so it breaks up the usefulness of the grid search

Basically - grid view is broken up by mix slop up at the top, then endless rows of shorts shorts, playlist, sponsored that are so spammed that it breaks up any chance of a readable grid. It seems google are fully phoneposter now

Great extension, things mostly work, but I still get mixes on of recommendation and I can not get that blocking function to work.

Not working to hide watched videos and three months since last update.

It's ok at the very best, actively worse in cases.
I wanted to look up the video 'I will be' from the creator ozumiiwizard...

I searched for 'ozu I will be', and it showed me some stupid mix first and didn't give me the video by itself.

Ok, maybe YT is dumb, so I'll disable it from showing playlists in search.

It now no longer shows me ANYTHING related to the song.

I tried it in a private window, just to see if it's the extension or not... IT IS THE EXTENSION that actively filtered out the video I was searching for.

It's possible that it did it several times in the past while I was searching for a video I remembered and wanted to rewatch, but I can't know in all honesty.

If you install this, search for videos to try it out if it actually makes search better for you or not.

This works so incredibly!! I can finally use YouTube again. I literally can't believe how broken the search function was before this, it was so cluttered and gross, I'm so glad this makes it functional again, thank you so much!!

Got so used to Youtube behaving reasonably that when I tried a new browser without the extension I thought it had broken. Went back to add it as soon as I could!

Absolute poo. Its supposed to hide Shorts when searching. THE ONLY THING THAT SHOWS UP IN SEARCH ARE SHORTS, not one single regular video. And don't tell me it's a conflicting plugin, I went so far as to delete every other one I had, and reset the system, to try and troubleshoot the issue.
